We have eaten there twice. The donuts are mediocre at best but since Raise n Glaze shut down we were in need of a new weekly donut fix for us and the kids. The first time I went with my MIL. Everyone was friendly, the atmosphere relaxed. The kids were entertained by all of the little knick knacks and water features. We got our donuts to go. The second time was with my husband. We have never been treated so badly by anyone. We purchased 4 donuts and two coffees to eat there. The kids were looking at and touching all of the knick knacks and one of the women there literally snatched a rubber donut out of my husbands hand. My son went to touch a pink rubber pig laying on the floor and the same woman snapped at me saying "could you not let him touch that." A bit later my daughter accidentally knocked off a stuffed rabbit sitting on a stool. I put it back but the same woman walked over and huffed (seriously, no joke) and said "seriously!" and started rearranging it. My son started getting upset that he wasn't allowed to touch all of the brightly colored "toys". We gathered are things up to go and my husband started out first with my son (13 months old BTW). As I was putting our donuts in a bag another employee there said to me "boy he's crabby today." I responded "are all your employees that rude or is it just us?" She replied "she's the owner." (!!!!!) Look, I get that not everyone likes kids but you own a donut shop and have decorated it like a kids dream. Come on! What did you think was going to happen? Even the best parents can only control the wee ones so much. That was the last time we ate donuts. We won't be returning and I'll be sure to tell everyone about my experience because the best or worst advertising for a business is word of mouth.

Ok; history time. Junction had a Krispy Kreme but it went out of business. A long long time ago Junction had a Dunkin' Donuts and it went out of business. Remember the three locations of Daylight Donuts, yeah, they're closed too. Now three locations and a whole slew of owners later the one left still standing is The Donut Shop (plus). Is it the best in the world? No. But is it damn good? Yes! It's a old-style lunch counter atmosphere that skews towards an older demographic. I've been coming in to this location for well over a decade and see many of the same faces from when you could still smoke here. Recently they have gone back to a previous owner's management (god, I'm glad I don't work there and just get to enjoy the food) according to staff and it shows. The quality in their donuts has gone up 1000% percent (my hyperbole meter is only peaking now). They still make them fresh (unlike the grocery stores where they come frozen and are just heated up). And they still have KILLER prices. With all the donuts under a buck they are competitive but with higher quality. The only thing I don't get anymore is the Apple Fritter. This used to be a staple for me but the recipe they are currently using is boring and flavorless with a tendency to be either soggy or over-cooked. But all of the donuts are amazing (blueberry special must be had and white-frosting-cocoa-puffs is ridiculously good- and I'm an old-school donut purist). Tip: Even though they lack preservatives I get a couple extra plain raised glazed donuts and eat them the next day. Somehow they are even better and the glaze takes on a kind of honey flavor that is astounding. The lack of preservatives can make their other donuts 'firm up' after 16-20 hours (that's a polite way to say harden) but I still get a day-old box if there's a couple there. Go in and see this cheap deal. Note: These guys also serve other breakfasts including good biscuits and gravy from scratch but, honestly, what's the point? They may have 'plus' in the title but I stopped reading at 'donuts.'

I decided to try 3 local donut shops for their glazed buttermilk and apple fritters. This was not the best. The glazed buttermilk, was not split around the top like most others I have ever eaten. It had almost no glaze, and what there was looked odd. It had the taste of a buttermilk donut but very little of it, and the texture was like a regular donut. All in all, not good. The Apple fritter had normal texture. But. almost no taste, not apple chunks or taste of apple at all. Again, all in all, not good. This was in fact, the worst of the 3 I tried. Also it was the most expensive.

This place has great breakfast options while serving the best donuts in town! (Especially considering the lack of Krispy Kreme or Dunkin Donuts around here.) It is easy to miss from the road going toward 6 & 50 so be on the lookout! As many bakeries do, this place closes when it's sold out, so make sure you get there early in the morning as to not miss out on all the goodies. Also make sure you have enough cash or a check as they do not allow credit/debit cards and are also lacking in an atm. Personal Fav: Chocolate frosted donut with Coco Crispies, yay childhood!

Local, local, local. I find it strange that The Donut Shop is not more bumpin'. I discovered this wonderful gem on a Friday morning. I had never come in before. I sat at the front counter and ordered the smothered breakfast burrito, had a cup of coffee and was recommended a puffy cake glazed donut. All was good. As I sat and chatted it up with the wonderful wait staff, I noticed that there was a great crowd of older locals enjoying the morning. I ask my waitress the story and she said that this group has been coming every morning for 30 years. That's a great story! I love that about the Donut Shop. I've been back a few times for coffee and breakfast. I will continue to come back as there is a lot of history here. I really want to get into these tables of conversations and hear what's going on.

    $2.10 for a 10 oz cup of marginal coffee. I decided I didn't need a $4 doughnut. Prob won't go back
